SUMMARY:Speed Measurement Devices
DESCRIPTION:This class is the required training for officers who have not been certified in Speed Measurement Devices.  Additionally\, it is highly recommended for those that\, as a matter of agency assignment\, have not operated a RADAR unit for the past year or more.  If any personnel only need the LIDAR portion of the training\, they can register separately for the class which is the first four hours of day 3. \nParticipants will need to bring a department vehicle equipped with a RADAR unit and/or LIDAR.  Upon completion participants in the 3 day training will be certified in the operation of both RADAR units and LIDAR which is valid for five (5) years. \nInstructor:  Jon Strom\, MCOLES Approved Radar/Lidar instructor. \nClass Size:           Limited to 15 \nCost:                      LEORTC Member Licensed Officers – Prepaid \nNon-Member Agencies –   $125.00 p/p \nREGISTRATION FORM

DESCRIPTION:This program is part of the Crime Prevention Specialist Series.  Each program in the series is a standalone seminar.  Participants that complete all seminars in the series will be granted a Crime Prevention Specialist Certificate. \nRecent incidents of violence in religious institutions have forced religious leaders to re-exam security measures. DESCRIPTION:Policies & Practices \nA Training Force USA Seminar \n  \nThe purpose of this course is to provide participants with an understanding of the various aspects and issues relating to officer misconduct\, internal affairs investigations\, and the agency discipline process. An effective officer discipline process requires a credible investigation conducted without bias and in accordance with professional practices\, agency policy\, and current laws.  This class delivers useful information for evaluating agency policies and procedures\, as well as for defining the role of the agency chief executive\, the internal affairs investigator\, and police unions in the discipline process. \n  \nAfter participating in this training\, participants will be able to: \n\nEmploy a systematic method to assemble a case file and conduct an investigation\nUnderstand the critical importance of establishing an effective complaint acceptance process\nUnderstand the difference between rules of engagement for administrative and criminal investigations\, and why a “wall of separation” is necessary during internal affairs investigations\nUnderstand the investigation of a police shooting or in-custody death and the internal affairs investigator’s role\nUnderstand the different types of misconduct cases and their impact on the internal affairs process\nLearn about recent legal decisions affecting internal affairs investigations\n\n\nTarget Audience \nThis training is especially valuable for command and supervisory personnel and internal affairs investigators.
