DESCRIPTION:THIS CLASS IS CANCELED \nThis 1 day\, dynamic\, interactive training will prepare police officers to not only survive\, but thrive in the courtroom\, even from a barrage of cross exam questions from the toughest of defense attorneys.  Participants in this class will learn all the tricks of the defense attorney trade\, how to overcome them\, and become the most effective\, persuasive\, and important player in the courtroom. \nReviews of this class have been overwhelmingly positive.  It is an exceptionally positive experience\, taught by an instructor with 30 years of courtroom experience.  It is fun\, practical\, and exceedingly helpful.  Learn all the things you were never taught in the police academy about winning convictions and making them stick!  You will participate in mock trials\, watch videos of other officer’s testimony\, and learn how to do it right!  If you’ve ever had a bad courtroom experience\, are new\, or simply need to gain some confidence\, take this course! \nThis is a full 1 day course\, consisting of 3 parts.  The first part consists of a mock trial\, where participants review police reports and actually testify in both direct and cross exam.  Attendees will alternate between playing the roles of witness\, juror\, and audience.  Everyone will participate throughout the morning\, and opportunities for frequent feedback will be given.  Cross exam will be challenging and demonstrate the most common defense techniques utilized to “trap” police officers and make them look bad.  Experience has shown that this part of the course\, utilizing audience participation and feedback\, is most appreciated and fun.  The second part consists of a lecture identifying all important aspects of effective police officer testimony\, identifying both the key factors to focus on\, as well as what to avoid. Topics include: \n*Better Report writing                                                                                    *Preparation \n*Courtroom demeanor\, body language and other intangibles              *Anticipating the cross exam \n*Avoiding common defense traps                                                               *Persuasion techniques \n*Common problems and areas for police officer testimony                   *Projecting confidence \n*Examples from real trials and real police reports \nPart three is a compilation of videos from actual trials.  Attendees can see the techniques discussed throughout the day exhibited in real\, live trial testimony from other police officers.  The videos demonstrate and reinforce the principles that have been discussed throughout the day in an authentic setting\, and bring it all home. \nInstructor: Stuart L. SUMMARY:Defense Against Edged Weapons - CANCELED
DESCRIPTION:THIS CLASS IS CANCELED \nPeople have been using edged weapons since the beginning of time.  Prior to invention of firearms\, knives\, arrows\, spears\, etc. were common place.  They are still around in one form or another.  Ever since the terrible events of 9/11\, where the hijackers used box cutters\, there has been an increased awareness of edged weapons.  Most people have no idea how to defend against an attack with a sharp object.  Most what you see on TV is just enough to get people hurt. \nLee Shaykhet’s training actually addresses two sides of the edged weapons story.  First it deals with defending against an attack.  The second part explains how to use an edged weapon\, if necessary. \nThis program is about the typical problems and issues that occur in a confrontation\, and how to successfully deal with them.  There are some basic concepts that are addressed.  There is a principle difference between the traditional approach to self defense\, and the practical side of the matter. \nThe simple fact is that people under stressful conditions cannot do complicated step by step techniques.  No amount of repetition can change that fact.  Shaykhet keeps it simple because that actually works. \nThe training deals the psychological stress of a confrontation and how to deal with it. The Observe\, Orient\, Decide\, Act Loop principle is also explained. There is a scenario based practical part\, where the students get to actually put what they learned into practice. \nAbout Shaykhet Training \nShaykhet Training is a provider of specialized methods of self-defense.  The company offers training for the Shaykhet method\, which is practical and easy to master\, for general citizens\, children and law enforcement officials.  The method was created by Lee Shaykhet\, who has experience training the former Soviet Army and has provided instruction for law enforcement and military organizations in Michigan\, Indiana\, Illinois\, Kentucky\, Wisconsin\, Ohio\, Florida and Minnesota\, as well as Canada.  Mr. Shaykhet has also offered training for security and consulting companies and has trained bodyguards for several high-profile events. \nClass Size:  Limited to 25 \nCost:                LEORTC Licensed Members – Prepaid           LEORTC Non-Licensed Personnel – $40 p/p         Non-Member Agencies – $75 p/p \nClick HERE to Register \n
