SUMMARY:Rental Communities Crime Prevention
DESCRIPTION:This course is open to both members of public safety and civilian apartment complex managers and single-family rental unit landlords.   This four hour seminar will offer participants a fresh approach to reducing 911 calls for service and increasing tenant’s quality of life through tried and true best practices and case studies. \nAttendees will learn that there are three important principles to deterring crime and creating rental community efficiency. \nPartnerships- Neither Police Officers\, Rental Community Management\, nor Residents can fight crime and quality of life issues alone.  A reciprocated union is required to fix reoccurring issues and the only way to find success is through a collaborative effort. \nPrevention- The understanding that prevention is always better than having to seek a cure.  This is accomplished through critical risk assessments put into action to achieve a preventative goal. \nParticipation- The realization that crime is a community problem which requires everyone working together to reduce or prevent it.  This is the true essence of the police and citizen partnership and only when put into actual practice can cooperative strategies be implemented to fix reoccurring problems.  Total success and profitability can be realized when all stakeholders become involved. \nInstructor:   Chris Fredenburg of the Saginaw Township Police Department.  He is an Advanced Crime Prevention Specialist and has extensive experience working with rental communities both with large tenant occupancy and small duplex and single-family rental units. \nCost (each class):               LEORTC Member:  Prepaid      Civilian Participants: $25.00 \nNon-Members:  $35.00 \nLocation:       Grand Blanc Twp. SUMMARY:Edged Weapons & Knife Attacks
DESCRIPTION:Simple “Common Sense” Techniques \nPeople have been using edged weapons since the beginning of time. They are still around in one form or another. Ever since the terrible events of 9/11\, where the hijackers used box cutters\, there has been an increased awareness of edged weapons.  As recently as 2017\, a high-profile terrorist attack occurred at Flint Bishop Airport.  The suspect used a 12” knife to severely injure a police officer. \nThis program addresses the psychological stress of an edged weapon confrontation and how to defend against it using the OODA Loop principle. Students will participate in scenario-based practical exercises.  Most people have no idea how to defend against an attack with a sharp object. Most what you see on TV is just enough to get people hurt. \nThis training addresses two sides of the edged weapons story. First it deals with defending against an attack. The second part explains how to use an edged weapon\, if necessary. \nInstructor:  Lee Shaykhet – is a provider of specialized methods of self-defense.  Lee has experience training the former Soviet Army and has provided instruction for law enforcement and military organizations in Michigan\, Indiana\, Illinois\, Kentucky\, Wisconsin\, Ohio\, Florida and Minnesota\, and in Canada.  He has trained security and consulting companies\, and bodyguards for several high-profile events. \nDate: September 8\, 2022 \nTime: 8am – 12pm or 1pm – 5pm \nLocation: Flint Township Police Department\, 5200 Norko Dr. Flint 48507 \nClass size: Limited to 25 \nCost:    LEORTC Licensed Members – Prepaid \nLEORTC Non-Licensed Personnel – $35 p/p \nNon-Member Agencies – $75 p/p \nTo register:   Visit www.leortc.com or e-mail registration@leortc.com  or call (810) 232-2654 \nClick HERE to Register
