SUMMARY:Advanced Topics in DNA

Each new FTO will be presented with ideas and techniques to assist them in becoming more professional and confident in the application of their skills.  This course is based on a modified “San Jose” program.  Upon completion the FTO will be able to: \n\nDiscuss the “San Jose” and other program models\nIdentify demands on FTOs as Instructors\nList five of the errors in rating\nUnderstand the basics of Adult Learning Theory\nIdentify liability issues\nUnderstand performance evaluations\nInstruct from Training Briefs\nUnderstand the Rating Scale and Reference Numbers\nComplete the Daily Observation Report\nDevelop a Scenario and additional Training Plans\nUnderstand the purpose of program management and control\n\nInstructor: Steven Kellams of FTO Solutions. We have lived in a world unimaginable to most that has adversely affected arguably everyone. \nThis course is designed to HELP police officers get through these trying times. HELP officers to understand how and why they seem to be under attack. The program will HELP officers to understand their own personal biases and how they affect their actions on the job. Officers will learn how to not end up in the news media due to actions that could have been avoided. DESCRIPTION:This course provides various scenarios where officers respond to and react to situations that they may encounter while on duty. Officers interact with computer generated scenarios using verbal commands\, use of cover\, and the use of firearms as needed. DESCRIPTION:CURRENT ALCOHOL\, DRUG\, AND CONCEALMENT TRENDS AND IDENTIFIERS \nThis workshop covers alcohol and drug clothing\, drug paraphernalia\, drug related music and groups\, logos\, stickers\, new technology\, youth party tendencies\, synthetic drugs\, OTC drugs\, inhalants and popular party drugs. This session will also cover common stash compartments that can be used to hide weapons inside everyday clothing containers and other items.  Officer Jermaine Galloway will also discuss traffic safety issues related to alcohol and drugs. \nThis session is unique\, in that it provides over 120 visual aids for attendees to hold and become familiar with.  In today’s culture\, everything is person-specific and has different meanings to different people.  Officer Galloway tailors the session to each community that he is in.  Once in your community\, Officer Galloway conducts a community scan spending time walking through local malls\, convenience stores and retail stores identifying popular culture alcohol and other items that promote drug abuse.  This allows the community to know what is going on locally\, in their own retail stores.  Galloway also covers the impact of legalization.  For each person to help prevent youth and adult substance abuse\, you MUST know what is going on in your community. \nThis workshop is geared toward all law enforcement officers\, school resource officers\, school officials and others. \nInstructor:  Jermaine Galloway.  Standing at 6’9″\, Jermaine can look intimidating.  But in fact\, he’s a devoted\, passionate man who cares about America’s youth and communities.  He has been a law enforcement officer for over 18 years and is currently serving as the Alcohol Compliance/Enforcement Officer for the City of Boise\, Idaho.  He is responsible for coordinating alcohol and drug education and enforcement programs throughout the City of Idaho.  Jermaine has been President of J. SUMMARY:Edged Weapons & Knife Attacks
DESCRIPTION:Simple “Common Sense” Techniques \nPeople have been using edged weapons since the beginning of time. They are still around in one form or another. Ever since the terrible events of 9/11\, where the hijackers used box cutters\, there has been an increased awareness of edged weapons.  As recently as 2017\, a high-profile terrorist attack occurred at Flint Bishop Airport.  The suspect used a 12” knife to severely injure a police officer. \nThis program addresses the psychological stress of an edged weapon confrontation and how to defend against it using the OODA Loop principle. Students will participate in scenario-based practical exercises.  Most people have no idea how to defend against an attack with a sharp object. Most what you see on TV is just enough to get people hurt. \nThis training addresses two sides of the edged weapons story. First it deals with defending against an attack.
