DESCRIPTION:Police interactions with citizens are in the national spotlight.  What previously wouldn’t have made the local paper now makes the national news.  Officers need tools to effectively engage citizens in a professional manner without compromising their own safety in the process.  That is why Dynamics of Officer/Citizen Encounters was created.  Through guided discussions\, video analysis and case studies\, participants will examine: \n\nCurrent research about the threats to officer safety\nThink CLEAR:  5 keys to officer safety and performance\nCommunication:  It’s about more than just talking\nKnow your authority:  keeping contacts lawful\nEmotional Intelligence:  the most important tool on your tool belt\nAdaptive decision making:  tools for increased officer safety\n\nInstructor:  John Bostain\, a former police officer\, he has served the Law Enforcement community for the past 24 years\, 21 of which have been as a law enforcement trainer. He has trained more than 15\,000 law enforcement professionals at the state\, local\, and Federal levels.
