DESCRIPTION:In small to medium agencies it is not uncommon for the role of the Public Information Officer to be assigned to an officer or supervisor along with other duties. Often these individuals tasked with the delicate job of speaking to the media and providing information to the public have little preparation or training to the position. SUMMARY:Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC)
DESCRIPTION:The Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) course was developed from the military Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) training. TECC is adapted to provide operators with battlefield proven trauma care information and techniques due to hostile action\, particularly penetrating trauma. \nStudents will be emailed study material prior to the course.  Students will be provided with an electronic version of the military TCCC Tactical Combat Casualty Care handbook to study.  The TCCC skill set for “Deploying Combatants” information will be presented in the TECC course.  The TCCC handbook covers both basic and advanced level material.  The TECC course will only address the basic level material related to “Deploying Combatants.”  Please study only that material.  Students are encouraged to bring any medical gear they carry on duty and they may also bring ballistic or tactical vests. \nTHIS IS A HANDS-ON TRAINING COURSE…… \nClass Size:  Limited to 14 \nCost:  LEORTC member licensed officers – Prepaid \nAll Others – $95.00 p/p \nInstructor:  Rick Holland\, Tactical Combat Casualty Care Instructor.  Rick has provided training to a multitude of agencies on a local\, state\, and national level.  \nThis class is registered with MCOLES for 302 funding. \nClick HERE to Register

SUMMARY:FTO Refresher Course
DESCRIPTION:This 2 day (12 hour) course is designed to refresh and remind the Field Training Officer (FTO) of the responsibilities and duties regarding field training.  Each FTO will be provided a refresher of the basic evaluation techniques for the field training program as well as the importance of adult learning theory in correcting poor performance.  Upon completion the FTO will be able to: \n\nUnderstand the basics of Adult Learning Theory\nDefine the Scale Value System\nUtilize Standard Evaluation Guidelines to complete the Daily Observation Report\nDefine Standardization and how it applies to Field Training Programs\nList the Common Performance Appraisal Errors\n\nInstructor:       Steven Kellams of FTO Solutions.  Steven Kellams retired from the Bloomington Police Department after 27 years of service. His last rank was as the Administrative Captain. In 2000\, then Lieutenant Kellams was instrumental in redesigning the field training program for the Bloomington\, Indiana Police Department and has taught that program to hundreds of departments throughout the United States.  He has also instructed on field training issues at the national level when he presented courses at four National Association of Field Training Officers conferences\, most recently in 2011.  In 2005\, Lieutenant Kellams was awarded the Law Enforcement Officer of the Year for Monroe County\, IN for his work with the Bloomington Police Department’s Field Training Program.  He was elected to the national NAFTO Executive Board and served as President in 2009. \nDates/Times:  November 4\, 2020\, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm and November 5\, 2020\, 8:30am-12:30pm \nLocation:         Grand Blanc Twp.
