SUMMARY:The Adaptive Supervisor
DESCRIPTION:This engaging course assists the supervisor and their officers in 21st Century skills development.  The Adaptive Supervisor introduces the 5 pillars of Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and the law enforcement supervisory core competencies encompassed in EQ.  Attendees will work with a legal and ethical decision-making model and learn how to conduct after-action reviews.  Participants will be introduced to a millennial proof feedback method to assist in developing the newest and next generation of law enforcement officers.  This course will provide techniques which will assist Supervisors not only in their daily activities but also with their overall professional development. \nParticipants will leave this class as a stronger Supervisor by learning:  \n\nHow Emotional Intelligence creates resilient\, compassionate and respectful police officers.\nThe Legal and Ethical Decision-Making Model.\nThe millennial proof Adaptive Feedback Model.\nTechniques for enhancing the critical thinking abilities of your officers.\nDecision making skills addressing de-escalation\, implicit bias\, and procedural justice.\nThe difference of fixed vs. growth mindset.\nThe Growing Courage Leadership Model.\n\nInstructor:  Thomas Dworak is a retired Sergeant (31 years) from a suburban Chicago Police Department where he was the Field Training and Evaluation Program Coordinator and the Lead Defensive Tactics/Use of Force Instructor.  As a Senior Instructor for the Virtus Group\, he developed and facilitates the Adaptive Supervisor and Adaptive FTO courses.  Thom facilitates training throughout the country in Field Training\, Instructor Development\, Leadership\, Use of Force\, and is a core instructor for Below 100.    He holds the position of adjunct faculty at the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy at the College of DU Page providing instruction to recruits in defensive tactics and scenario-based training. \nDate/Time:         Wednesday\, December 4\, 2019\, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm \nLocation:             Baker College – Flint\, Center for Undergraduate Studies\, Rooms 101/103\, \n1050 W. SUMMARY:You Don't Have to Die:  Survive an Ambush
DESCRIPTION:This program presents a practical way of surviving an ambush.  The officer will be able to identify the signs of upcoming ambush\, which provides an opportunity to avoid it.  The practical application of concepts of baseline\, above and below baseline will be addressed.  Pre attack indicators will be explained as well as the importance of movement versus static response and the concept of effective communication will also be discussed. \nAbout Shaykhet Training \nShaykhet Training is a provider of specialized methods of self-defense.  The company offers training for the Shaykhet method\, which is practical and easy to master\, for general citizens\, children and law enforcement officials.  The method was created by Lee Shaykhet\, who has experience training the former Soviet Army and has provided instruction for law enforcement and military organizations in Michigan\, Indiana\, Illinois\, Kentucky\, Wisconsin\, Ohio\, Florida and Minnesota\, as well as Canada.  Mr. Shaykhet has also offered training for security and consulting companies and has trained bodyguards for several high-profile events. \nCourse Instructor:  Lee Shaykhet.  Lee has taught self defense classes to police and corrections officers for many years.  There is a principle difference between the traditional approach to self defense\, and the practical side of the matter.  He is a veteran instructor for LEORTC. \nClass Size:  Limited to 25 \nCost:                LEORTC Licensed Members – Prepaid           LEORTC Non-Licensed Personnel – $35 p/p         Non-Member Agencies – $50 p/p \nClick HERE to Register \n“This training has been registered with MCOLES for the use of PA 302 Law Enforcement Distribution funds.”  \n
