SUMMARY:Firearms Simulator Decision Making
DESCRIPTION:This course provides various scenarios where officers respond to and react to situations that they may encounter while on duty. Officers interact with computer generated scenarios using verbal commands\, use of cover\, and the use of firearms as needed.  Officers are critiqued at the completion of the scenario during the post critical incident reviews. \nLaw Enforcement Regional Training Academy (LERTA) has one of the few fully integrated driving and force options simulator’s in the area.  With this system\, officers will do exactly the same things in the training room that they do on duty: receiving and responding to a call in their patrol car\, conducting an investigation or a field interview\, making a simulated arrest\, or even implementing a level of force necessary to gain compliance from a subject. \nParticipants will be credited for 2 hours of training with MCOLES.  Training blocks of time will be assigned to individuals as they enroll for the class.  Training blocks are:  3:30pm – 5:30pm\, 6pm – 8pm\, and 8pm – 10pm.  We will be able to accommodate four (4) trainees per block. \nINSTRUCTOR:  Dunell Chaney is retired from the City of Flint Police Department and is currently a Sergeant with the Mott Community College Campus Safety for approximately 30 years of law enforcement experience.  He is a MILO/FAAC instructor\, firearms instructor\, defensive tactics instructor\, and active shooter instructor.  He has been an instructor for LERTA for the last five (5) years. \nCOST:  LEORTC Licensed Personnel – Prepaid     All Others – $35.00 p/p \nREQUIREMENTS:  Officers are to report in their duty wear.  Weapons will be secured prior to participating in the training.  This is a FAAC Simulator which incorporates both a driving and force options.  All weaponry/radio systems are furnished. \nClick HERE to Register \n\n+ GOOGLE CALENDAR+ ICAL EXPORT

DESCRIPTION:THIS AWARENESS PROGRAM SHOULD BE A MUST FOR ALL LEORTC MEMBER OFFICERS \nTHE 5 TENETS THAT SAVE LIVES \nThe Below 100 Program is designed to drastically reduce law enforcement Line of Duty Deaths (LODD’s).  The Below 100 Program specifically addresses the operational areas of law enforcement that contribute to the greatest number of LODD’s\, but are in large part preventable.  The Below 100 Program is an effort to instill a culture of safety in law enforcement agencies that will progressively reduce national LODD’s to Below 100 annually.  Instructional methods include lecture\, guided discussion\, and video case studies. \n  \nLearning Objectives: \n\nExamine Line of Duty Deaths and Strategies for Reduction\nIdentify the 5 Basic Tenants of Below 100\nIdentify Agency Implementation Strategies of the Below 100 Program\n\n  \nInstructor:  Tom Gillman\, Criminal Justice Training Coordinator at Delta College.  Tom spent 28 years with the Bay County Sheriff Department.  He is a Certified Firearm’s Instructor\, R.A.D.
