SUMMARY:Report Reviews for Supervisors
DESCRIPTION:Being able to write a good police report is one thing but reviewing reports of others is an entirely different skill. As a supervisor\, you are responsible for the quality of the reports for those that work in your unit. So\, as a supervisor\, do you really know how to review a police report? \nWhether you are a new supervisor\, or have years of experience\, this class will help you to know what is important in a police report in order to create a more thorough investigation and successful prosecution! \nThis is not a grammar class or a report writing class. This is a class that will help you review a police report for accuracy and completeness. \nHave you ever heard of Brady v. Maryland\, or Giglio v. United States? If your answer to that question is NO\, then you need to attend this training. These cases and others are important for you to know to keep you and your agency from costly litigation. So\, be aware and be informed.\nThis course is taught in a participative style so participants are asked to forward a copy of a police report* they have recently investigated to the trainers when they register for the class. \n*Send to info@leortc.com and they will be forwarded to the instructor(s). \nInstructor: Gerald Ladwig retired as Chief of Police of the Midland\, Michigan Police Department with over 16 years in supervision including road patrol and investigations. He is currently a Magistrate for the 75th District Court. He has many years of experience testifying in court\, and he directed severl trials and hearings during his time as an assistant prosecutor. Gerald is a licensed attorney with a JD from Michigan State University College of Law. \nCost:\nLEORTC Licensed Members – Prepaid\nLEORTC Non-Licensed Personnel – $40 p/p\nNon-Member Agencies – $75 p/p \nREGISTRATION FORM \n

SUMMARY:Firearms Simulator Decision Making
DESCRIPTION:This course provides various scenarios where officers respond to and react to situations that they may encounter while on duty. Officers interact with computer generated scenarios using verbal commands\, use of cover\, and the use of firearms as needed.  Officers are critiqued at the completion of the scenario during the post critical incident reviews. \nLaw Enforcement Regional Training Academy (LERTA) has one of the few fully integrated driving and force options simulator’s in the area.  With this system\, officers will do exactly the same things in the training room that they do on duty: receiving and responding to a call in their patrol car\, conducting an investigation or a field interview\, making a simulated arrest\, or even implementing a level of force necessary to gain compliance from a subject. \nParticipants will be credited for 2 hours of training with MCOLES.  Training blocks of time will be assigned to individuals as they enroll for the class.  Training blocks are:  8:30am – 10:30am     10:30am – 12:30pm     1:00pm – 3:00pm.  We will be able to accommodate four (4) trainees per block. \nINSTRUCTOR:  Dunell Chaney is retired from the City of Flint Police Department and is currently a Sergeant with the Mott Community College Campus Safety for approximately 30 years of law enforcement experience.  He is a MILO/FAAC instructor\, firearms instructor\, defensive tactics instructor\, and active shooter instructor.  He has been an instructor for LERTA for the last five (5) years. \nCOST:  LEORTC Licensed Personnel – Prepaid     All Others – $35.00 p/p \nREQUIREMENTS:  Officers are to report in their duty wear.  Weapons will be secured prior to participating in the training.  This is a FAAC Simulator which incorporates both a driving and force options.  All weaponry/radio systems are furnished. \nREGISTRATION FORM
