SUMMARY:4th Amendment: Updated Search & Seizure for Patrol
DESCRIPTION:Law Enforcement Regional Training Commission \npresents \n4th Amendment: Updated Search & Seizure for Patrol \n \nDate: February 18\, 2026\, 8:30am-4:30pm \nLocation: Grand Blanc Township Police Department\, 5405 S. Saginaw Street\, Grand Blanc\, MI 48507 \nEvery officer who makes arrests\, conducts searches of any kind\, or detains anyone for the purposes of questioning them\, must thoroughly understand the parameters set forth by the Fourth Amendment related to search and seizure. A lack of that understanding gravely jeopardizes cases and exposes you and your department to expensive legal liability and ultimately give criminals an avoidable and undeserved ticket to freedom. \nThis course is designed to give law enforcement professionals of all ranks a complete understanding of the Constitutional parameters that apply to search and seizure; the protections due citizens and the leeway officers have while performing their duties. \nAmong other topics\, Detective Mike Montgomery\, a detective with the West Chicago Police Department\, will approach—in an extremely practical and understandable fashion—topics like: \n\nCitizens’ reasonable expectation of privacy.\nNon-physical and physical intrusions.\nLegal requirements to launch an investigation\, execute arrests or conduct searches.\nWhat constitutes reasonable\, articulable suspicion and probable cause.\nHandling drivers and passengers during traffic stops.\nLegally extending stops for the purpose of investigation.\nPlain view\, plain smell and K9 sniffs.\nPat downs\, frisks and plain feel…and much more.\n\nThis course is both crucial and immediately applicable. No officer can afford to miss this information\, and no agency can have officers who don’t fully understand the Fourth Amendment! \nCost:               LEORTC Licensed Members – Pre-Paid \nNon- Licensed Members – $99 \nAll Others- $199 \nClick to REGISTER below: \nhttps://form.123formbuilder.com/6888767/training-application-form \nThis training is registered as\, “Commission Designated Continuing Professional Education (CPE).”
