SUMMARY:Rental Communities Crime Prevention
DESCRIPTION:This course is open to both members of public safety and civilian apartment complex managers and single-family rental unit landlords.   This four hour seminar will offer participants a fresh approach to reducing 911 calls for service and increasing tenant’s quality of life through tried and true best practices and case studies. \nAttendees will learn that there are three important principles to deterring crime and creating rental community efficiency. \nPartnerships- Neither Police Officers\, Rental Community Management\, nor Residents can fight crime and quality of life issues alone.  A reciprocated union is required to fix reoccurring issues and the only way to find success is through a collaborative effort. \nPrevention- The understanding that prevention is always better than having to seek a cure.  This is accomplished through critical risk assessments put into action to achieve a preventative goal. \nParticipation- The realization that crime is a community problem which requires everyone working together to reduce or prevent it.  This is the true essence of the police and citizen partnership and only when put into actual practice can cooperative strategies be implemented to fix reoccurring problems.  Total success and profitability can be realized when all stakeholders become involved. \nInstructor:   Chris Fredenburg of the Saginaw Township Police Department.  He is an Advanced Crime Prevention Specialist and has extensive experience working with rental communities both with large tenant occupancy and small duplex and single-family rental units. \nCost (each class):               LEORTC Member:  Prepaid      Civilian Participants: $35.00 \nNon-Members:  $65.00 \nLocation (all classes):       Grand Blanc Twp. SUMMARY:TACTICAL FIELD OPERATIONS Man-Tracking Procedures
DESCRIPTION:This training program focuses on perimeter containment of Fleeing Subjects while utilizing Man-Tracking skills\, deploying K-9\, utilization of aviation support\, and possibly LPOP’s (Listening Points / Observation Points). These techniques are also utilized for Lost and Missing Persons.\nThis training would be valuable for all officers\, supervisors\, and command staff.\n.\nTraining components of this program include:\n\nThe Psychological Profiles of Fleeing Subjects / Lost & Missing Persons issues are taught to assist in understanding early search variables.\n\nFor Fleeing Subjects\, the Leap Frogging technique is utilized to shorten the time /distance gap.\n\nOther areas to be covered would be utilization of a compass\, GPS\, Downed Officer Reaction/solutions\, and arrest procedure upon contact.\n.\nMost of the two-days of training will be outside in a variety of conditions and areas. SUMMARY:Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE)
DESCRIPTION:The purpose of the 16-hour Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) course is to increase officer ability to observe\, identify\, and articulate the signs of impairment related to drugs\, alcohol\, or a combination of both. This training also encompasses the 4 hour Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) Refresher training. \nRequirements to attend: \n\nPolice Officers\, Motor Carrier Officers\, or Prosecutors only.  **Other individuals will not be allowed to attend**\nStudents must provide on day one valid documentation of 24 hour SFST Practitioner Training to attend. Acceptable documentation includes: SFST card\, certificate of training\, police academy graduate after January 1\, 2010.\nStudents must demonstrate proficiency in HGN\, walk and turn\, and one leg stand at the conclusion of the SFST refresher segment. Students unable to demonstrate SFST proficiency will be dismissed from the training. Students are strongly encouraged to review SFST procedure prior to training.\n\n**Demand for ARIDE training is high. SUMMARY:Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC)
DESCRIPTION:The Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) course was developed from the military Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) training. DESCRIPTION:This (2.5) day (20 hour) course is designed to provide knowledge and skills necessary to properly lead and manage a Field Training Unit.  Each Field Training Manager will be presented with ideas and techniques to assist them in becoming more professional and confident in the application of their skills.  Upon completion the Field Training Manager will be able to: \n\nUnderstand the strengths and weaknesses of the different FTO models\nIdentify demands on Field Training Managers\nDefine the duties of the Field Training Manager and Coordinator\nCorrect recruit’s poor performance\nIdentify liability issues\nUnderstand performance evaluations\nUnderstand the Rating Scale and Reference Numbers\nComplete the Weekly Managers Report\nDevelop a scenario and additional training plans\nUnderstand the purpose of program management and control\nManage the FTO\nUnderstand proper implementation of termination procedures\n\nInstructor:       Steven Kellams of FTO Solutions.  Steven Kellams retired from the Bloomington Police Department after 27 years of service. His last rank was as the Administrative Captain.
