DESCRIPTION:Testifying on an OWI case can be a daunting experience\, especially if it’s your first time.  This training aims to help officers prepare for court\, whether it’s their first time or 20th time.  Topics that will be covered in this half-day training include Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFST) and how to educate a jury about them\, how to handle common OWI defense challenges on the stand\, and the do’s and don’ts of cross examination. \nWho Should Attend?  All certified law enforcement officers. \nOfficers will need to forward on copy of their own OWI report to use during the mock trial portion of the training. \nUpon registering for this class you will be required to forward an OWI police report that you have written.  Please submit this report to info@leortc.com.  You will use this report during the mock trial portion of the training.  It is important that you send the report well in advance of the training.  Attendee participation is 100% required.  Please include the attendee’s email in the registration.  If you are signing up another officer\, please use their email and communicate to them the required submission requirements.  It is important that we have direct communication with the attendees. \nInstructor:  Instruction will be provided by PAAM Traffic Safety Training Program \nLocation:  Mott Community College – Southern Lakes Branch\, 2100 W. SUMMARY:Emergency Vehicle Operation - THIS CLASS WAS CANCELED
DESCRIPTION:Participants will start the day at Flint Township Police Department and after instruction proceed to Auto City Speedway. \nThis 1-day refresher will provide a review of the laws and policies related to emergency vehicle operation\, pursuits\, and the proper course of action based on related circumstances. This training should be taken by officers that have not had the course within the last three years. As a matter of safety\, and as a condition of participation\, officers will be asked to sign the Course Rules Memorandum. \nIn addition to the regular skills review\, students will participate in a pursuit check ride with an instructor. Students are required to attend all class hours and successfully complete the course to receive a certificate. SUMMARY:M.I.L.O. Simulator Training - School Active Shooter
DESCRIPTION:(2-hour training blocks) \nThis course provides various scenarios where officers respond to and react to situations that they may encounter while on duty. Officers interact with computer generated scenarios using verbal commands\, use of cover\, and the use of firearms as needed. Officers are critiqued at the completion of the scenario during the post critical incident reviews. \nGoals and Objectives \n*              Participants will be able to recognize threats\, select appropriate course(s) of action. \n*              Participants will be able to identify themselves when reasonable and give verbal challenges. \n*              Participants will learn the value of cover and concealment and the proper use of them. \n*              Participants will obtain invaluable experience in high stress scenarios which will aid them in their everyday encounters. \n*              Minimum of four scenarios per participant \n*              Various situations which will require participants to utilize: \n1) cover and concealment \n2) commands \n3) possible use of force \nDuty wear required. All firearms will be secured before participating. SUMMARY:Patrol Rifle Instructor Course
DESCRIPTION:This course is for already certified firearms (pistol) instructors.  The student of this training will gain the knowledge of how to articulate and instruct the safe carry and storage; care and maintenance; sighting; setting up and engaging in live-fire drills; functions of the rifle and more to future operators of semi-auto patrol rifles. Please read the pre-requisites for the minimum standards for instructor candidates on the second page. \n\n\nThis course is for already certified firearms (pistol) instructors with basic AR15 user/operator course certification. Certificates of both must be presented on Day 1 to the instructors. The students of this course will gain the knowledge of how to articulate and instruct the safe carry and storage; care and maintenance; sighting; setting up and engaging in live-fire drills; functions of the rifle and more to future operators of semi-auto patrol rifles.\nOnly iron sights are permitted during the course with electronic sights familiarization on the last day of the class.  On the morning of Day 1 the student will report to the range with a zeroed rifle for a live fire pre-test course of the following:\nZero Confirmation – From the prone position fire 3 rounds into the center mass circle of zeroing target at 27 yards to verify weapon zero. If the group is outside of the zero circle the shooter gets 1 correction and fire additional 3 round group to confirm zero. Pass or Fail\nSkills Demonstration – Starting with 2 magazines with 15 rounds in each the student on command will exit a patrol car with rifle and move to a position behind a barricade. On command\, the shooter will fire 3 rounds from the support shoulder from behind cover at TCQ target 15 yards away in 7 seconds\, perform an un-timed tactical reload behind cover. Then on command will fire 3 rounds on same target from the strong side in 5 seconds. Place rifle on safe.\nMoving across the range to a second barricade the student will take up a kneeling position utilizing cover and on command fire 6 rounds on TCQ target 25 yards down range in 10 seconds. The student will then stand on command and utilizing cover\, fire 6 shots on same TCQ target in 15 seconds. From behind cover reload using the 12-round magazine. Place rifle on safe.\nOn command move to third position up range\, 50 yards from TCQ target. From firing position\, the student will shoot from the kneeling position 4 rounds in 60 seconds\, then 4 rounds from the sitting position in 45 seconds\, and finally from the prone position 4 rounds in 30 seconds.\nScore 100% in TCQ combat scoring area. \nThose unable to meet the requirements will not continue with the course. Final qualification course on Friday is 60 rounds on targets at 25\, 50\, 75\, and 100 yards.\nAs this course follows the military model of marksmanship ALL students must have a 2-point sling (attaches to the toe of the stock and to the front sling swivel under the barrel) to obtain stability of the weapon. However\, you must pass the pre-test (described above) and the final live fire test to graduate from this course.\nThis is not a participation pass course.
