SUMMARY:TACTICAL FIELD OPERATIONS Man-Tracking Procedures
DESCRIPTION:This training program focuses on perimeter containment of Fleeing Subjects while utilizing Man-Tracking skills\, deploying K-9\, utilization of aviation support\, and possibly LPOP’s (Listening Points / Observation Points). These techniques are also utilized for Lost and Missing Persons.\nThis training would be valuable for all officers\, supervisors\, and command staff.\n.\nTraining components of this program include:\n\nThe Psychological Profiles of Fleeing Subjects / Lost & Missing Persons issues are taught to assist in understanding early search variables.\n\nFor Fleeing Subjects\, the Leap Frogging technique is utilized to shorten the time /distance gap.\n\nOther areas to be covered would be utilization of a compass\, GPS\, Downed Officer Reaction/solutions\, and arrest procedure upon contact.\n.\nMost of the two-days of training will be outside in a variety of conditions and areas. SUMMARY:Emergency Vehicle Operation
DESCRIPTION:Participants will start the day at Mott Community College – Northern Tier in Clio and after instruction proceed to Auto City Speedway. \nThis 1-day refresher will provide a review of the laws and policies related to emergency vehicle operation\, pursuits\, and the proper course of action based on related circumstances. This training should be taken by officers that have not had the course within the last three years. As a matter of safety\, and as a condition of participation\, officers will be asked to sign the Course Rules Memorandum. \nIn addition to the regular skills review\, students will participate in a pursuit check ride with an instructor. SUMMARY:M.I.L.O. Simulator Training - School Active Shooter
DESCRIPTION:(2-hour training blocks) \nThis course provides various scenarios where officers respond to and react to situations that they may encounter while on duty. Officers interact with computer generated scenarios using verbal commands\, use of cover\, and the use of firearms as needed. Officers are critiqued at the completion of the scenario during the post critical incident reviews. \nGoals and Objectives \n*              Participants will be able to recognize threats\, select appropriate course(s) of action. \n*              Participants will be able to identify themselves when reasonable and give verbal challenges. \n*              Participants will learn the value of cover and concealment and the proper use of them. \n*              Participants will obtain invaluable experience in high stress scenarios which will aid them in their everyday encounters. \n*              Minimum of four scenarios per participant \n*              Various situations which will require participants to utilize: \n1) cover and concealment \n2) commands \n3) possible use of force \nDuty wear required. SUMMARY:Autism Awareness for First Responders
DESCRIPTION:Autism Training for First Responders \nCourse Description: This training session will focus on defining autism\, recognizing autism in the field\, and strategies for interacting and engaging with people with autism. The three most common\, high-risk calls involving people with autism will be presented and discussed as well as criminal justice contact trends and interview techniques. Information specific to fire\, EMS\, and emergency room personnel is included. The training session is presented through multimedia images\, audiovisual video\, lectures\, and handouts. Case examples will be discussed. \nInstructors: Drs. Melissa Sreckovic and Christine Kenney are associate professors at the University of Michigan-Flint in the Education Department. Dr. Sreckovic earned her Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Special Education with a focus on autism spectrum disorders and her MA from Michigan State University in Special Education and Literacy. Dr. Kenney earned her Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in Language\, Literacy\, and Culture and her MA from Eastern Michigan University in Early Childhood Education with a focus on Special Education. Drs. Sreckovic and Kenney have worked with individuals with autism for more than 15 years\, including young children\, adolescents\, and adults. SUMMARY:Overview of Crime Prevention through Environmental Design
DESCRIPTION:This program is part of the Crime Prevention Specialist Series.  Each program in the series is a standalone seminar.  Participants that complete all seminars in the series will be granted a Crime Prevention Specialist Certificate. \nThis one-day overview will provide attendees with the basic concepts and principles of Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED). Participants will learn how CPTED can be applied to provide useful risk assessments and security surveys in all segments of our community.  These concepts are extremely useful for patrol officers and investigators in providing preventive recommendations to community groups or individuals as well as crime victims and complainants. \nCPTED examines the existing environment and its use and how those can be enhanced to improve the quality of life for residents\, ultimately reducing the fear and actual incidents of crime. \nInstructor: Officer Chris Fredenburg of the Saginaw Township Police Department. SUMMARY:Speed Measurement Devices
DESCRIPTION:This class is the required training for officers who have not been certified in Speed Measurement Devices.  Additionally\, it is highly recommended for those that\, as a matter of agency assignment\, have not operated a RADAR unit for the past year or more.  If any personnel only need the LIDAR portion of the training\, they can register separately for the class which is the first four hours of day 3. \nParticipants will need to bring a department vehicle equipped with a RADAR unit and/or LIDAR.  Upon completion participants in the 3-day training will be certified in the operation of both RADAR units and LIDAR which is valid for five (5) years. \nInstructor:  Jon Strom\, MCOLES Approved Radar/Lidar instructor. \nDates:  May 25\, 2023\, 8:30am – 4:30pm followed up on June 6 & 7\, 2023 8:30am – 4:30pm \nLocation:  Grand Blanc Township Police Department\, 5405 S.
