SUMMARY:M.I.L.O. Simulator Training - School Active Shooter
DESCRIPTION:This course provides various scenarios where officers respond to and react to situations that they may encounter while on duty. Officers interact with computer generated scenarios using verbal commands\, use of cover\, and the use of firearms as needed. Officers are critiqued at the completion of the scenario during the post critical incident reviews. \nGoals and Objectives \n*            Participants will be able to recognize threats\, select appropriate course(s) of action. \n*            Participants will be able to identify themselves when reasonable and give verbal challenges. \n*            Participants will learn the value of cover and concealment and the proper use of them. \n*            Participants will obtain invaluable experience in high stress scenarios which will aid them in their everyday encounters. \n*            Minimum of four scenarios per participant \n*            Various situations which will require participants to utilize: \n1) cover and concealment \n2) commands \n3) possible use of force \nDuty wear required. All firearms will be secured before participating. Safety rules in place for scenarios.  No personal weapons allowed.   \nInstructors:       Dunell Chaney retired from the City of Flint Police Department and is currently a Sergeant with Mott Community College DPS. With the loss of support staff and the need for additional justification for resources\, it is essential that information is presented in an understandable and data driven format.  Excel provides the vehicle for you and your staff to accomplish that mission.  This is the follow-up course to Microsoft Excel Level 1 (required). \nThis class will be conducted in the computer lab and will combine presentation with a step-by step hands-on learning for an adult learning experience. DESCRIPTION:BASIC FIELD TRAINING OFFICER COURSE \nHow to become an Effective Field Training Officer \nThis 4-day course is designed to provide knowledge and training to develop Field Training Officers’ skills. Each new FTO will be presented with ideas and techniques to assist them in becoming more professional and confident in the application of their skills.  This course is based on a modified “San Jose” program.  Upon completion the FTO will be able to: \n\nDiscuss the “San Jose” and other program models\nIdentify demands on FTOs as Instructors\nList five of the errors in rating\nUnderstand the basics of Adult Learning Theory\nIdentify liability issues\nUnderstand performance evaluations\nInstruct from Training Briefs\nUnderstand the Rating Scale and Reference Numbers\nComplete the Daily Observation Report\nDevelop a Scenario and additional Training Plans\nUnderstand the purpose of program management and control\n\nInstructor: Steven Kellams of FTO Solutions.
