SUMMARY:Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) Program
DESCRIPTION:The purpose of the 16-hour Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) course is to increase officer ability to observe\, identify\, and articulate the signs of impairment related to drugs\, alcohol\, or a combination of both. This training also encompasses the 4 hour Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) Refresher training. \nRequirements to attend: \n\nPolice Officers\, Motor Carrier Officers\, or Prosecutors only.  **Other individuals will not be allowed to attend**\nStudents must provide on day one valid documentation of 24 hour SFST Practitioner Training to attend. Acceptable documentation includes: SFST card\, certificate of training\, police academy graduate after January 1\, 2010.\nStudents must demonstrate proficiency in HGN\, walk and turn\, and one leg stand at the conclusion of the SFST refresher segment. Students unable to demonstrate SFST proficiency will be dismissed from the training. Students are strongly encouraged to review SFST procedure prior to training.\n\n**Demand for ARIDE training is high. DESCRIPTION:THERE HAS BEEN A TIME CHANGE FOR THIS CLASS \n 8am – 12noon \n \nCURRENT ALCOHOL\, DRUG\, AND CONCEALMENT TRENDS AND IDENTIFIERS \nThis workshop covers alcohol and drug clothing\, drug paraphernalia\, drug related music and groups\, logos\, stickers\, new technology\, youth party tendencies\, synthetic drugs\, OTC drugs\, inhalants and popular party drugs. This session will also cover common stash compartments that can be used to hide weapons inside everyday clothing containers and other items.  Officer Jermaine Galloway will also discuss traffic safety issues related to alcohol and drugs. \nThis session is unique\, in that it provides over 120 visual aids for attendees to hold and become familiar with.  In today’s culture\, everything is person-specific and has different meanings to different people.  Officer Galloway tailors the session to each community that he is in.  Once in your community\, Officer Galloway conducts a community scan spending time walking through local malls\, convenience stores and retail stores identifying popular culture alcohol and other items that promote drug abuse.  This allows the community to know what is going on locally\, in their own retail stores.  Galloway also covers the impact of legalization.  For each person to help prevent youth and adult substance abuse\, you MUST know what is going on in your community. \nThis workshop is geared toward all law enforcement officers\, school resource officers\, school officials and others. \nInstructor:  Jermaine Galloway.  Standing at 6’9″\, Jermaine can look intimidating.  But in fact\, he’s a devoted\, passionate man who cares about America’s youth and communities.  He has been a law enforcement officer for over 18 years and is currently serving as the Alcohol Compliance/Enforcement Officer for the City of Boise\, Idaho.  He is responsible for coordinating alcohol and drug education and enforcement programs throughout the City of Idaho.  Jermaine has been President of J.
