DESCRIPTION:BASIC FTO COURSE \nHosted By \nLaw Enforcement Officers Regional Training Commission \nThis training is registered as\, “Agency Elected Continuing Professional Education (CPE).” \nThis 3.5-day course is designed to provide knowledge and training to develop Field Training Officers’ skills.  Each new FTO will be presented with ideas and techniques to assist them in becoming more professional and confident in the application of their skills.  This course is based on a modified “San Jose” program.  Upon completion the FTO will be able to: \n\nDiscuss the “San Jose” and other program models\nIdentify demands on FTOs as Instructors\nList five of the errors in rating\nUnderstand the basics of Adult Learning Theory\nIdentify liability issues\nUnderstand performance evaluations\nInstruct from Training Briefs\nUnderstand the Rating Scale and Reference Numbers\nComplete the Daily Observation Report\nDevelop a Scenario and additional Training Plans\nUnderstand the purpose of program management and control\n\nInstructor:  Steven Kellams of FTO Solutions.  Steven Kellams retired from the Bloomington Police Department after 27 years of service. His last rank was as the Administrative Captain. SUMMARY:Basic Bloodstain Pattern Analysis
DESCRIPTION:This training is registered as\, “Agency Elected Continuing Professional Education (CPE).” \nRecognition & Documentation \nThis course provides an introduction to bloodstain pattern recognition and documentation.  The investigator will leave this course with an understanding of how bloodstain pattern analysis can be used in crime scene reconstruction.   An emphasis will be placed on recognizing patterns and documenting them properly through photography to ensure proper analysis through photographs at a later date.  Recognizing when a qualified bloodstain analyst should be consulted will be discussed.  This is NOT an all-inclusive pattern course and does not satisfy the requirement of a basic course\, which requires 40 hours of training.  Participants should bring their crime scene photography equipment to the class. \nTopics Include: \nIntro to Bloodstain Pattern Analysis (lecture) \nBloodstain Pattern Recognition (exercise) \nCase Study \nDocumenting Bloodstain Patterns (lecture) \nBloodstain Pattern Documentation (exercise) \nInstructor: Shane Hill is currently the supervisor of the Biology Body Fluid Identification (BFI) Unit at the Michigan State Police (MSP) Metropolitan Bridgeport Forensic Laboratory. He has been with MSP for over 13 years\, most of that time as a forensic scientist in the BFI Unit.
