SUMMARY:Response to Active Violence Training
DESCRIPTION:The Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) presents: \nResponse to Active Violence Training \nThis class covers the mandated standards developed for Public Act 552 of 2018.  The act added section 609e to the MCOLES act mandating active violence training for all licensed law enforcement officers in Michigan.  This course will include classroom and practical exercises. \nThis class is open to all sworn personnel. \nPlease remember to bring your MCOLES number for recognition of the completed training on your individual employment history.  A portion of the training will involve the use of force-on-force scenarios.  Long sleeve shirt and gloves are required.  Additional PPE equipment will be provided.  Firearms will not be allowed at the scenario training location and will need to be stored outside the training location. \nPublic Act 522 of 2018 \nOn March 28\, 2019\, Public Act 552 of 2018 (2018PA552\, MCL28.609e) became effective amending Public Act 203 of 1965 (MCOLES Act).  The act added section 609e to the MCOLES Act mandating active violence training for all licensed law enforcement officers in Michigan. \nSection 9e specifies the following: \n\n“(1) Beginning January 1\, 2020\, an individual seeking to become licensed under section 9\, 9b\, 9c\, or 9d shall complete active violence response training that emphasizes coordinated tactical response to rapidly developing incidents in which intentional physical injury or death to a specific population occurs through the use of conventional or unconventional weapons and tactics. \n(2) The commission shall promulgate rules establishing the minimum standards for the active violence response training required under subsection (1). \n(3) Beginning January 1\, 2020\, an individual who is licensed under section 9\, 9b\, 9c\, or 9d shall complete the active violence response training described under subsection (1).”\n\n  \nInstructors:  MCOLES staff. \nLocation:  Mott Community College – Southern Lakes Branch\, 2100 W. SUMMARY:Tactical Field Operations - Man Tracking
DESCRIPTION:This training program focuses on perimeter containment of Fleeing Subjects while utilizing Man-Tracking skills\, deploying K-9\, utilization of aviation support\, and possibly LPOP’s (Listening Points / Observation Points). These techniques are also utilized for Lost and Missing Persons.\nThis training would be valuable for all officers\, supervisors\, and command staff.\n.\nTraining components of this program include:\n\nThe Psychological Profiles of Fleeing Subjects / Lost & Missing Persons issues are taught to assist in understanding early search variables.\n\nFor Fleeing Subjects\, the Leap Frogging technique is utilized to shorten the time /distance gap.\n\nOther areas to be covered would be utilization of a compass\, GPS\, Downed Officer Reaction/solutions\, and arrest procedure upon contact.\n.\nMost of the two-days of training will be outside in a variety of conditions and areas.
