SUMMARY:M.I.L.O. Simulator Training - School Active Shooter
DESCRIPTION:This course provides various scenarios where officers respond to and react to situations that they may encounter while on duty. Officers interact with computer generated scenarios using verbal commands\, use of cover\, and the use of firearms as needed. Officers are critiqued at the completion of the scenario during the post critical incident reviews. \nGoals and Objectives \n*            Participants will be able to recognize threats\, select appropriate course(s) of action. \n*            Participants will be able to identify themselves when reasonable and give verbal challenges. \n*            Participants will learn the value of cover and concealment and the proper use of them. \n*            Participants will obtain invaluable experience in high stress scenarios which will aid them in their everyday encounters. \n*            Minimum of four scenarios per participant \n*            Various situations which will require participants to utilize: \n1) cover and concealment \n2) commands \n3) possible use of force \nDuty wear required. All firearms will be secured before participating. DESCRIPTION:BASIC FIELD TRAINING OFFICER COURSE \nHow to become an Effective Field Training Officer \nThis 4-day course is designed to provide knowledge and training to develop Field Training Officers’ skills. Each new FTO will be presented with ideas and techniques to assist them in becoming more professional and confident in the application of their skills.  This course is based on a modified “San Jose” program.  Upon completion the FTO will be able to: \n\nDiscuss the “San Jose” and other program models\nIdentify demands on FTOs as Instructors\nList five of the errors in rating\nUnderstand the basics of Adult Learning Theory\nIdentify liability issues\nUnderstand performance evaluations\nInstruct from Training Briefs\nUnderstand the Rating Scale and Reference Numbers\nComplete the Daily Observation Report\nDevelop a Scenario and additional Training Plans\nUnderstand the purpose of program management and control\n\nInstructor: Steven Kellams of FTO Solutions. DESCRIPTION:Presented by the Genesee Health System\, training is funded through a SAMHSA CCBHC Expansion Grant. \nTopics:  Responding to individuals with active homicidal/suicidal ideation\, the needs of vulnerable populations in our community (victims of domestic violence\, Alzheimer’s/Dementia\, foster youth\, veterans\, etc.)\, mental health 101\, officer wellness\, substance use\, and other related topics. \nIncluded:  Daily lunch\, snacks\, and coffee \nDress Code:  Relaxed Monday-Thursday\, Uniforms required on Friday. \nLocation:  Grand Blanc Township Police Department\, 5405 S. Saginaw Street\, Grand Blanc\, 48439 \nPlease Note:  During the role plays\, which will be approximately 4 hours on Thursday and Friday\, all guns and weapons will be required to be locked up to ensure safety.  Masks will be required.  We are able to accommodate a maximum of 16 law enforcement officers for this training. \nTo Register:  Interested officers need to contact their sheriff/chief to enroll.  THIS TRAINING IS ONLY FOR THOSE IN GENESEE COUNTY. \n
