DESCRIPTION:Law Enforcement Officers Regional Training Commission \npresents \nDetective Bootcamp \nCourse Description: This 2-day class is for new and experienced detectives. It provides a comprehensive review of the skill set needed to be an effective criminal investigator. A successful criminal prosecution starts with a thorough investigation. Your experienced instructor will lead the participants through the steps of an investigation by reviewing case studies and actual crime investigations. Along with the practical approach\, investigative techniques that build the foundation of most investigations will be reviewed. The objective is to prepare the participant to be able to apply these skills in the field immediately. \nInstructor: Lou Tessmann\, CFI retired from the Waukegan (Illinois) Police Department after 23 years of service in a wide variety of assignments\, including patrol\, investigations\, training\, and ultimately Deputy Chief of Police.\nLou is a 26-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps\, retiring as a CWO-4. In addition to his service in Vietnam he was activated for Desert Storm and Desert Shield and has received numerous military awards including the Naval Commendation Medal. Lou began his career as a police officer with the City of Waukegan assigned to the patrol division. He was later assigned to the detective bureau for nine years and as a juvenile officer for one year. SUMMARY:Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE)
DESCRIPTION:    Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE)\nThe course includes a SFST refresher that is recommended every 3 years. \nThe purpose of the 16-hour Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) course is to increase officer ability to observe\, identify\, and articulate the signs of impairment related to drugs\, alcohol\, or a combination of both. This training also encompasses the 4-hour Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) Refresher training.  Open to law enforcement\, motor carrier officers\, and prosecutors only.  Non-law enforcement may only register with prior approval from DECP Program Coordinator or designee listed below.   \nRequirements to attend: \n\nPolice Officers\, Motor Carrier Officers\, or Prosecutors only.\nStudents must provide on day one valid documentation of 24-hour SFST Practitioner Training to attend. Acceptable documentation includes: SFST card\, certificate of training\, police academy graduate after January 1\, 2010.\nStudents must demonstrate proficiency in HGN\, walk and turn\, and one leg stand at the conclusion of the SFST refresher segment. Students unable to demonstrate SFST proficiency will be dismissed from the training. Students are strongly encouraged to review SFST procedure prior to training.\n\n**Demand for ARIDE training is high. Limited to 25 students. DESCRIPTION:Grand Blanc Township Police Department\npresents \nCrowd Management/Mobile Field Force\n      This training is registered as\, “Commission Designated Continuing Professional Education“ \nCOURSE DESCRIPTION: This course provides law enforcement officers with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to effectively manage crowds and operate within a Mobile Field Force during demonstrations\, protests\, civil disturbances\, and other large-scale public events. Through classroom instruction\, equipment familiarization\, and hands-on practical exercises\, participants will learn crowd management principles\, legal considerations\, protest response strategies\, mobile field force formations and movements\, arrest team operations\, and mass arrest procedures. \nThe training addresses the increasing need for law enforcement agencies to respond safely and effectively to dynamic crowd-related incidents while maintaining public order\, protecting constitutional rights\, and reducing risks to officers and community members.
