DESCRIPTION:Strategies and Tactics for New Supervisors \nFailure to train new supervisors to properly lead\, manage\, and run the day-to-day operations of the agency is one of the most common problems in public safety today. Leaders must be built within an organization and understanding the basics of leadership and management will be critical to help the new supervisor transition into their position. SUMMARY:Edged Weapons & Knife Attacks
DESCRIPTION:People have been using edged weapons since the beginning of time. They are still around in one form or another. Ever since the terrible events of 9/11\, where the hijackers used box cutters\, there has been an increased awareness of edged weapons.  As recently as 2017\, a high-profile terrorist attack occurred at Flint Bishop Airport.  The suspect used a 12” knife to severely injure a police officer. \nThis program addresses the psychological stress of an edged weapon confrontation and how to defend against it using the OODA Loop principle. Students will participate in scenario-based practical exercises.  Most people have no idea how to defend against an attack with a sharp object. Most what you see on TV is just enough to get people hurt. \nThis training addresses two sides of the edged weapons story. First it deals with defending against an attack. His last rank was as the Administrative Captain. DESCRIPTION:The purpose of the 16-hour Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) course is to increase officer ability to observe\, identify\, and articulate the signs of impairment related to drugs\, alcohol\, or a combination of both. DESCRIPTION:Course Description: This training session will focus on defining autism\, recognizing autism in the field\, and strategies for interacting and engaging with people with autism. SUMMARY:Emergency Vehicle Operation
DESCRIPTION:Participants will start the day at Flint Township Police Department and after instruction proceed to Auto City Speedway. \nThis 1-day refresher will provide a review of the laws and policies related to emergency vehicle operation\, pursuits\, and the proper course of action based on related circumstances. This training should be taken by officers that have not had the course within the last three years. As a matter of safety\, and as a condition of participation\, officers will be asked to sign the Course Rules Memorandum. \nIn addition to the regular skills review\, students will participate in a pursuit check ride with an instructor.
