Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) for Public Safety teaches the skills needed to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care.
This course educates officers on identifying signs of dementia, communicating effectively with affected individuals, reducing use-of-force risks, and navigating legal and ethical concerns during interactions. It will equip officers with the skills to identify and safely respond to individuals with dementia, reducing risk and liability.
This course is designed for any law enforcement officer or law enforcement civilian that will investigate crimes as either a first responder, evidence technician, or investigator.
This (2.5) day (20 hour) course is designed to provide knowledge and skills necessary to properly lead and manage a Field Training Unit.
