Budgeting Strategies for Criminal Justice Professionals
A TRAINING FORCE USA SEMINAR
Nationally, many criminal justice agencies have experienced serious funding reductions while our communities’ expectations for services have increased. This class is designed to prepare criminal justice professionals to meet current budget requirements and challenges. The participants will learn how to prepare, monitor and implement the budget. This class will examine and discuss data sources that effectively identify costs and reduction adjustments when necessary. This is an engaging course that includes practical exercises, visual aids and group discussions throughout the class.
Training will cover:
- Review; Performance Measurement in the Budget Process
- Identify statistical and Data Sources
- Structuring the Budget
- How the Various Budget Systems Work
- Understanding Performance Standards and Why they Must Meet our Communities’ Needs
- Developing an Efficient Staffing Model
- Effectively Dealing with Current Budget Reductions and Forecasting Future Reductions
- Budget Justification and Presentation
INSTRUCTOR: Chief Jeff Pearson is employed by the Satellite Beach Police Department. He is responsible for all department operations, policies and budgeting. He began his career in 1988 working his way through the ranks. He graduated from the FBINA (224 session), has a Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Central Florida.
